CURRICULAM

The School is permanently affiliated to the ICSE Board, New Delhi, and has classes from the LKG to Std. XII. The school strives for academic excellence, along with the periodic assessments, continuous evaluation scheme in academic and non-academic matters are given great importance.

The Academic year starts in the first week of June and ends at the end of the following March. The working hours are from 9.00 a.m to 3.30 p.m

Kindergarten​

Learning is caring, sharing and responding! Walk by our Kindergarten section and you will see thematic boards filled with colours that bring every form of life alive into the school. You can feel the vibrant colours, music and the joy of activity based learning. These important, initial years set the tone for the entire academic life for years to come. Bearing this in mind, utmost care has gone into the activity based designing of curriculum, exclusively for the little ones at Don Bosco Central School, Irinjalakuda. Classrooms are furnished with customized furniture, bright visuals, display boards and a wide array of nursery equipments, in fact everything to beguile the little learners. The teachers gently lead the children from the known to the unknown through an interesting session of interactive learning process. The warmth and supportive atmosphere of home is replicated here. A child’s natural curiosity and joy in exploring its environment, is given full rein in the Play –Way Methodology.

Primary

This consists of classes Standard I to V. The syllabus followed is as per ICSE scheme. Activity-driven teaching strategies go hand in hand with chalk-and-talk methods. Periodical oral and written evaluations and assessments are conducted. All class rooms are equipped with interactive digital boards.

Secondary

Secondary School consists of classes Standard VI to X. The Middle School, Grades 5 to 7, challenges the learners with a broader curriculum. It lays the foundation for the High School Academic program. Study skills are honed, concepts taught are thoroughly grounded – group work and interaction with classmates cater to growing social awareness. The spectrum of extracurricular activities gives scope for talents to surface in Dramatics, Music, Art, Dancing, Games and Sports. Tests and examinations now become a part of the assessment methodology and parents are kept appraised of the child’s academic progress and are provided a frequent opportunity to interact with teachers to assess the development.

The Secondary Section of the Don Bosco Central School includes classes IX and X. This wing of the school prepares students for their first public examination ICSE. Here the students are encouraged to participate in activities like debate, quiz, Olympaids and different kind of scholastic activities. Stress is given to discipline and punctuality. Focus is always on creating a learning environment for students. Much stress is given to academics, along with additional help so that the students excel in their board examinations.

In accordance with the ISC requirements, all students admitted to class 11 have to select subjects which they wish to study at the +2 level (classes 11 and 12).

The compulsory subject is: English.

In addition to English (Compulsory,) five elective subjects have to be chosen
