CISCE NATIONAL TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

Irinjalakuda: The CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) National Table Tennis Championship got off to an enthusiastic start at Don Bosco Central School, Irinjalakuda. The prestigious championship was inaugurated by Adv. O. J. Janeesh, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Kerala, at a grand ceremony held at Don Bosco Central School, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Around 250 young athletes representing 16 regions across the country are participating in the championship.
In his inaugural address, the Minister emphasised that students should give equal importance to sports along with academics. He appreciated the initiatives undertaken by CISCE to promote a sporting culture among students and to identify and nurture sporting talents at the national level. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Vattakunnel, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Schools, delivered the welcome address. Rev. Fr. Shino Kalapurackal, CISCE Kerala Region Sports Coordinator and ASISC Kerala Regional Secretary, extended his greetings and felicitations. Rev. Fr. Jithin Michael, Principal of Don Bosco Central School, proposed the vote of thanks.
The ceremony was attended by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ottaplackal, Spiritual Animator; Mrs. Shobha James, Headmistress, Don Bosco LP School; Mr. Joseph Chacko, Chief Referee and Secretary, TDTTA; Mrs. Sharika Shivaprasad, PTA President, Don Bosco Central School; Mr. Alex Suresh, Vice President, Alumni Association; Mrs. Bindu Babu, Sports Coordinator; Mr. Soumya Banerjee, Table Tennis Coach, Don Bosco Central School; and Mr. Jithin Raj, Physical Education Teacher.The championship, which will continue until August 23, will witness intense competition among some of the finest young table tennis players from different parts of the country.Adv.Thomas Unniyadan, MLA, Irinjalakuda Constituency, will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory ceremony.
